Before going to Boston in January, Daniel had never been back East. I have been to most all of the eastern states but it had been about eight years. We did all of the typical tourist stuff because it was Daniel's first time and that is just part of what you have to do. There is so much awesome history and neat sites so needless to say we kept busy. We jam-packed our days in order to do everything that we wanted to do in each location. In Rhode Island, we ate at this amazing cafe for breakfast and then went back the next day because it was so good. In Boston, the locals have a coffee and donut or bagel in the morning. There are not really any breakfast cafes or if there are, we were too busy during the week to ever think about going out to breakfast. Thinking about that Rhode Island breakfast is even making my mouth water at the moment.
Providence does not have too many things to do so we walked around the whole campus of Brown University and then walked around the entire city. It is pretty small but we did a culture walk and listened to some of Rhode Island's history.
In New York we did all of the tourist stuff of course. We also got to see a whole new side of New York that I have never seen because my friend has lived there for a few years. We ate at some AMAZING food places and saw soooo many cool things. We even got to see the broadway show Jersey Boys and we saw The David Letterman Show! We walked through central park and took cool jumping pics, walked around quincy market, walked on the skywalk, got dessert at Serendipity, and about 1000 other cool things. We loved loved loved New York and we decided we could live there for a short time... but only a short time. Amazingly fun and unique city but that lifestyle would get very old and there are so many people that it is pretty overwhelming at times.
D.C. was awesome in its own way. Some friends from the campaign (The Gerards) live about 10 minutes from the house where we were staying so we hung out with them and the 10 other Ex Romney employees that were crashing at the Gerard's house until they figured out what they were going to do with there life now. We went into D.C. a few days and did all of the museums and monuments and EVERYTHING. We even went to Georgetown and walked all around! We seriously did a great job of being efficient because we saw everything that we had planned and wanted to see plus a bunch more things that we randomly decided we wanted to do.
The trip was awesome. It was just us two, carrying around everything we owned in Boston from bus to bus. We were crashing at friend's places with no real plans once we got to our destinations. We had lists of things that we wanted to try to see and that was as much of a plan as we had. We had the best time getting to travel around, spend 24/7 with each other, and become closer in so many ways. It was an experience we will never forget and it did partially help heal our crushed hearts and dreams.
Definitely a success.
Many pics below. All random and not necessarily in order at all. Enjoy.
