Romney for President

Daniel and I got married July 7th 2012 as I have previously mentioned.  We went on our honeymoon, for a few weeks, then flew back to San Diego. We got to San Diego really late at night and went straight to bed. The next morning we woke up, and spontaneously bought tickets to Boston. Okay, okay... we already knew we would be flying out to Boston within those next few days, just not the exact day. We bought a ticket for a flight that took off in about 20 hours from that point.  Those 20 hours were SO busy that I never even went to bed that night. We unpacked all of our honeymoon stuff and then had to immediately pack a back for Boston. Our plan at that point was to only go to Boston for one month so we could get back to San Diego with enough time to drive out to Utah for fall semester. I packed one suitcase full of summer type clothes and Daniel packed one suitcase full of Internship type clothes and we went on our way.  Daniel had set up this internship a few months previous to our arrival and he really did not know too much about it.  All we knew was that he would be interning on the Mitt Romney campaign in the Finance department.  We got to where we would be staying with Donna Marie Pare (I will save the story about our living situation for another post) and we fell right asleep.  The next day was a Saturday and we tried to get everything we needed to start our first week in Boston.

That Monday, I went with Daniel on the 30 minute commute and dropped him off at the Romney Headquarters.  I then went to explore the city with a friend (Lauren) who had been there for a few months.  Her husband (Jack) was in the finance department and she is the one who got Daniel all set up with him.  The city was great and she took me to some of the main areas to get me acquainted.  I was very confused by the city because it seemed so big and confusing.

Once Daniel was done for the day I was so happy to see him, I pretty much RAN back to headquarters with Lauren.  Since our wedding day, we had not been apart for more than about 5 minutes at a time and that was only if we were in the bathroom.  It felt like the longest day ever and I was not too excited to start reality and have to be apart every day for multiple hours.  That night, he told me all about it and we mutually decided that we would take a semester off of school so that we could stay in Boston until the election.  It was such a once in a lifetime opportunity that we knew we had to stay.  My previous plan was to hang out in the city and practice Spanish for the upcoming semester because I would be taking a very hard class.  Once we decided to stay for such a long time I knew I had to find something better to do with all of my free time.  Daniel had asked the lady in charge of Interns (Kathryn Briewa) if there would be a place on the campaign that I could help out while we were here.  She said that they could always use more help so I started on the campaign on Daniel's 3rd day.  The reason I couldn't start that next day (2nd day) is because they had to go through the internet and make sure I wasn't some crazy girl.  haha Anyway, during the time we were at the campaign we were able to commute to and from work each day which was really nice.  We also met up for lunch and would find cool places to sit and eat.  Did I mention it was like 100 degrees each day and SUPER HUMID. We had no AC at Donna Marie's house and it was miserable.  I also had only packed super casual clothes to walk around the city so we went on a little shopping spree for me because I needed work clothes. That was fun but I wish I would had brought some of my own because I always felt like I had no clothes.

I will continue more on the next post! Stay tuned.

On the flight to Boston... SUPER tired + Delusional = this picture

We are gross.. This was sent to Jessi Pitcher

On Daniel's second day as an intern.. alone and bored in the city and of course a random torrential rainstorm on a blazing hot day

Our first day in Boston we went to check out the Harvard campus. They've got nothin on BYU.

After finally landing in Boston we were so exhausted and ready to get to our new place.

Daniel's first day as a Romney Intern. SO sharp.

Another random rainstorm while 100 degrees. This time I brought my rain jacket :)

We tried out a pizza place after a busy day...
