Final Romney Post

So this last post is pretty much more random than my usual ones... (seems impossible, I know).

First I want to explain our living situation for the first two months of living in Boston. So we landed and took a cab to the address we were given.  When we arrived at the house, we went around back as instructed and she was standing there waiting for us. We all introduced ourselves and she asked what we were going to be doing in Boston. We told her we were working on the Romney Campaign and she started yelling!

She yelled, "WHAT?! If you would have told me that ahead of time I would have NEVER let you stay here! I hate him. He is the worst person ever. You disgust me! How can you work for such a terrible guy. I am not kidding. I would have never let you step foot on my property if I would have known. I guess it's too late now though right? You can't stay anywhere else? Wow I am so mad that you like that guy. We are not going to be able to talk because I hate him. We won't get along very well."

Well, as you can guess, I was SO uncomfortable. Most awkward introduction session on my life!

We had looked for housing and could find nothing! A friend of Daniel's family had parents who lived in Boston. They gave us the number of a lady who was in their ward. (which is Donna Marie) She charged us 700 a month for the NASTIEST, SMALLEST, WEIRDEST room in her home. A harvard professor lived on the first floor, we lived on the second floor, and Donna Marie Pare lived in the weird attic. The basement was like something you saw in a nightmare... and oh, that's where we had to go down and do laundry and take showers. We had a room with a bed that was 147 years old. It felt about that old. It was tilted and lumpy and I will probably have permanent back pain because of it. There were no available cabinets in the kitchen - because they each had 500 of everything. 500 plates took up one cabinet, 500 bowls in a different one, 500 spoons in one drawer and there was naturally a separate drawer for each type of silverware. - We had no choice but to keep all of our food in our tiny room. We had no drawers so the clothes were stacked on the floor and under the bed. WOW I forget how bad it was. The bathroom next to our room didn't have a shower. Just an ancient tub and we used that the first month but then she said we couldn't anymore so we started going to the dungeon (I mean basement) to shower. I made Daniel stay with me down there till I went back up.

Did I mention the worst smelling human ever moved into the room that touched ours? An African named Julian. Well his BO made our room and food smell terribly. There was no AC in her house and it was about 100 degrees and HUMID so that was lovely. We were living a mile from the closest anything so we ran to the T every day and usually missed it. haha. After work, late at night, we would have to grab groceries and then carry them home the whole way without a cart.

Good thing we were newly married and so happy because I would hurt someone if I had to do that again. hahaha.

P.s. That was on Walden Street in Cambridge Mass. The T stop was Porter Square. We were one stop from Harvard Square which was the only good thing about that place. And we found out we could take the train into North Station and that saved us 20 min so our commute was only 20 min in total!

There are 1000000000 other hilarious/traumatic/ridiculous/gross stories I want to tell but I don't have enough time.

After a few months of looking for ANYWHERE else to live, we found something. It was called Archstone Quincy, and yes, it was in Quincy. Quincy is SUPER sketch in some areas but our new place was Asian/Indian Ville. We got a 2 bedroom place and we had one bedroom and Joseph and Adam had the other. There is NO way to describe them. In the quickest way I can think to do so, Adam is a chubby, loud, over-confident, Jewish New Yorker from Long Neck. He gossips more than anyone I have ever met. SUPER annoying but brilliant and he goes to George Washington. Wants to seem cool by knowing everything about everyone and telling everyone about the things in his life that seem awesome but no one cares. Nice friend but really, a struggle to be around for awhile.

Joseph is a talkative, immature/mature, obsessed with video games, basketball, and politics, Florida State University and he is a devout Cuban Catholic from Florida. He thinks you can discuss ANYTHING... even whether the sky is blue, and he loves talking and DISCUSSING. I thought Adam would be way harder to live with but it was Joseph that I always had to tell SHUT UP haha. We would fight like siblings.

Archstone Quincy smelled like oriental food and I practically threw up whenever I walked outside our door or once I walked into the building!

That is all I can handle writing about that. I am getting annoyed just thinking about all of this. HAHA.

Election night is also something I do not care to write about too much. IT SUCKED. Working the event was awesome and made us feel like the shiz. But... being there as we lost the biggest campaign in history, felt like the 57836243921578923801302 hours we had put into the campaign were worthless. America lost that night. I cried. We pretty much didn't talk that night because everyone was so shocked and heart broken. We went to bed and slept in ridiculously late and went to HQ the next day for the last time. Romney, Anne, and Matt Rhodes (campaign manager) spoke about how thankful they all were for our hard work. It was sad and touching.

That is all.
